The Grand Canyon saw record-breaking visitor numbers this year and it’s not hard to see why

The Grand Canyon is on many travellers’ bucket-list – so it’s not surprising that a record-breaking number of visitors went to see it in 2016.

The Arizona park celebrated its six-millionth visitor of the year at its final National Park Service Centennial event. All through 2016, the more than 400 parks around the country have marked the centennial, which included 16 days of free entry to the 124 parks that normally charge a fee.
