Aer Lingus to launch new Dublin-Seattle route in May

Aer Lingus has announced its 2018 UK summer schedule which boasts 3.7 million seats between UK and Ireland and seamless connections to 13 North American destinations including a new service to Seattle, Washington State.

As Ireland’s first ever direct service to the Emerald City operating four times weekly from May 18th, 2018, this new route offers connections from 12 UK cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

This summer Aer Lingus’ short haul schedule boasts 3.7 million seats, including Aer Lingus Regional services operated by Stobart Air, and serves a total of 25 routes between UK and Ireland.

Singapore Airlines selects Airbus to overhaul A380 fleet

Airbus has been selected by Singapore Airlines to provide cabin retrofit services for 14 A380 aircraft currently in service with the carrier.

The retrofit programme, which will be undertaken at SIA Engineering Company in Singapore, will see the airline’s recently launched cabin products installed on the aircraft.

The new cabin products will debut on five new A380s to be delivered this year and next year.

Under the agreement, Services by Airbus will be responsible for service bulletin and aircraft cabin parts-kit delivery.

Its teams will also contribute their A380 design knowledge and engineering expertise to integrate SIA’s customised cabin fittings into the A380’s double-deck interior.

Qatar Airways boosts European frequencies

Qatar Airways has announced that it will increase daily frequencies to the Scandinavian capitals of Stockholm and Oslo, alongside the Italian cities of Milan and Rome.

Due to an increase in demand to key European destinations, especially from the Asia Pacific region, flights to Rome, Milan and Stockholm will increase to 17 per week from Doha’s Hamad International Airport, while flights to Oslo are set to increase from seven to ten frequencies per week.

The airline has also announced that double daily flights to the Russian capital Moscow will increase to three times daily from December 14th, just five days before Qatar Airways’ inaugural daily flight to the Russian city of St. Petersburg.

The additional frequency to Moscow will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Qatar Airways chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways continues to expedite its ambitious expansion plans and demonstrate strong growth across Europe and Russia.

Etihad Airways goes all-Dreamliner on Swiss connections



Etihad Airways’ flights to and from Switzerland will become an all-Boeing 787 Dreamliner operation with the aircraft being deployed on the Abu Dhabi-Geneva route, effective from March 2018.

The Dreamliner flights to Geneva will complement the airline’s existing 787 Dreamliner scheduled services connecting Abu Dhabi and Zurich, becoming the fifth European city to be served by the carrier’s rapidly growing fleet of next generation aircraft.

Etihad Airways currently operates daily flights between the UAE’s capital city of Abu Dhabi and both Geneva and Zurich.

Introduction of the 787 Dreamliner will also see a scheduling change that will continue to provide attractive timings for customers travelling to and from Geneva.

Thales to provide next generation Wi-Fi on Emirates 777x fleet

Emirates and Thales have signed a new agreement to equip its Boeing 777X fleet with the next generation broadband inflight connectivity using Inmarsat GX global network.

The partnership will give Emirates customers best in class connectivity on its Boeing 777X aircraft due for delivery starting in 2020.

Emirates and Thales already have an existing multi-million dollar deal to fit its Boeing 777X fleet with a next generation Thales AVANT inflight entertainment system.

The new agreement is part of the Emirates and Thales’ plans to develop and enhance the state-of-the-art inflight entertainment and connectivity on the 777X fleet.

Over the years, Emirates has invested over US $200 million to equip its aircraft with connectivity.

Principal London set to open early next year

Dubai Airshow 2017: Indigo signs $49.5bn deal with Airbus in largest ever order

Indigo Partners’ has signed a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of 430 A320neo Family aircraft from Airbus.

The deal is Airbus’ largest ever single plane order.

The aircraft will be allocated among the ultra-low-cost airlines Frontier Airlines (United States), JetSMART (Chile), Volaris (Mexico), and Wizz Air (Hungary) upon the completion of final purchase agreements.

The 430-aircraft commitment, comprised of 273 A320neos and 157 A321neos worth $49.5 billion at list prices, was announced at the Dubai Airshow by Bill Franke, managing partner of Indigo Partners, and John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer customers, Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

When added to existing Airbus A320 Family orders, the new agreement will make Indigo Partners one of the largest customers by order number in the world for the Airbus single-aisle aircraft family.

Air China to launch Los Angeles-Shenzhen connection next month

Air China has announced a new three times weekly non-stop service between Los Angeles and Shenzhen.

The flight will depart on December 7th and will be operated by the airline’s newest Dreamliner, the Boeing 787-9.

“With China as Los Angeles’ top trading partner, we are committed to growing and strengthening the economic and cultural ties between the two.

“The new non-stop Los Angeles-Shenzhen service brings together two of the world’s leading technology and innovation hubs,” Zhihang Chi, general manager of Air China North America stated.

According to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, majority of Chinese investment into the United States originates from Guangdong Province which covers Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

Dubai Airshow 2017: Emirates places $15bn Dreamliner order with Boeing

Boeing and Emirates have announced a commitment to purchase 40 787-10 Dreamliners at the 2017 Dubai Airshow.

The deal, including airplanes and related equipment, is valued at $15.1 billion at current list prices.

Emirates is the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and will be the first to receive the new 777X in 2020.

In selecting the 787-10, Emirates complements their 777 fleet with a medium twin-aisle airplane that offers 25 per cent better fuel efficiency per seat and emissions than the airplanes it replaces.

Boeing takes head start in Dubai with Emirates Dreamliner order

Emirates unveiled a preliminary order worth $15 billion for 40 Boeing (BA.N) jets, but kept Europe’s Airbus (AIR.PA) waiting for a lifeline order for A380 superjumbos as the Dubai Airshow opened amid worries over tensions in the Middle East.

Lufthansa links Berlin to United States for first time in more than a decade

Lufthansa has begun its first long-haul flight, after 16 years, from Berlin to the United States.

The reintroduction of the Berlin-JFK route brings great news for travellers in the New York area that are interested to fly directly to Berlin.

For the first time since 2001 Lufthansa is stationing a long-haul aircraft in Berlin, thus connecting Germany’s capital and Europe’s most vibrant city with the Big Apple.

Beginning today, Lufthansa will offer non-stop service five times a week – every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday – using an Airbus A330-300, to Berlin.

With this new route, the Lufthansa Group offers direct flights from the New York area to four destinations in Germany — Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf and Berlin.

Emirates to launch new first-class product on European routes in December

Emirates has confirmed that its first two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with its new first-class product will operate from Dubai to the airline’s Belgian and Swiss destinations starting from December.

Emirates’ new first-class cabin will feature six private suites laid out in a one-one-one layout, compared to the eight private suites in a one-two-one layout on its existing 777 fleet.

In addition to the entirely redesigned product, Emirates’ new Boeing 777-300ERs will also boast refreshed features in the business and economy class cabins.

Operating one of the two daily flights from Dubai to Geneva, travellers can enjoy the new product on flight EK083 departing Dubai at 14:50, arriving in Geneva at 18:55.

LATAM to connect Santiago-Tel Aviv from 2018

The flight will be operated by LATAM Airlines from Santiago with a stop in São Paulo (SCL-GRU-TLV), subject to regulatory approval.

The new flight will operate with three frequencies per week from the end of 2018, offering connections throughout Latin America.

In October, the airline group announced three new international destinations: Rome (Italy), Lisbon (Portugal) and Boston (United States).

Tickets to/from Rome are already on sale via LATAM’s sales channels and it is awaiting regulatory approval to confirm operations to Boston and Lisbon.

With the four new routes, the airline group will offer flights to 144 destinations in 27 countries.

Eurowings takes off for Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The first Eurowings long-haul flight from Düsseldorf took off earlier, headed for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The dream destination will be operated with four flights a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Eurowings flight EW1140 takes off from Düsseldorf at 13:40 and lands in Punta Cana at 19:25 local time.

CDB Aviation places $7.4 billion deal with Boeing

Boeing and CDB Aviation today finalised an order for 42 737 MAX 8s, ten 737 MAX 10s and eight 787-9 Dreamliners.

The order puts the 737 MAX program over 4,000 orders total.

Valued at $7.4 billion at current list prices, was announced as a memorandum of understanding at the 2017 Paris Air Show.

The order includes a conversion of six 737 MAX 8 orders, to the 737 MAX 10.

CDB Aviation, one of the largest and most influential Chinese-owned aviation leasing companies, is part of the launch customer group for the 737 MAX 10, the newest member of Boeing’s 737 MAX family.

Jet Airways goes triple daily on London-Mumbai route

Responding to the increase in demand for air travel between the UK and India, Jet Airways commenced its new third daily service from London Heathrow to Mumbai.

Jet Airways is the first Indian carrier to operate three daily flights between UKs capital city and Mumbai; India’s economic and financial capital.

TAP launches new flights to London City Airport

TAP’s operation between London City airport and Lisbon has launched, with the inaugural flight taking off from London City at 19:50.

TAP now serves three airports in London, offering two daily flights on week-days and one daily flight on weekends from London City to Lisbon.

Delta Air Lines takes Airbus A350 to Amsterdam

Delta Air Lines A350-900 aircraft
Delta Air Lines has scheduled its flagship A350-900 aircraft on one of four daily flights between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

The new route will launch on March 31st next year.

Amsterdam will be the first trans-Atlantic destination for Delta’s A350 aircraft, offering customers an elevated travel experience in every class of service throughout their flight.

Delta will also deploy the A350 on Detroit-Shanghai service beginning April 19th, 2018.

With the addition of Amsterdam, Delta will fly five international routes from DTW using the A350.

First A330neo takes flight over southern France

A330neo
The first A330neo took off this morning at Blagnac in Toulouse for its maiden flight taking place over south-western France.

The aircraft, MSN1795, is a A330-900 and the first of three certification flight-test aircraft to fly, powered by the latest technology Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 turbofans.

The A330neo’s certification development programme itself will last around 1,400 flight-test hours.

This will comprise 1,100 flight hours for the A330-900 campaign – to achieve its respective EASA and FAA Type Certification around the middle of 2018; plus 300 flight hours for A330-800 version – which will be certified in 2019.
