South America Travel Guides 2014: (PDF) Lonely Planet

With the summer vacation season fast approaching, ETG releases the top 10 most popular destinations in South America 2014.

The mystical Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru finds itself on the top spot this year, with Brazil (host of the Soccer World Cup) a close second. Argentina has been growing steadily in popularity in recent years, and may see an increase in tourists this season due to the favourable exchange rate. Rio de Janeiro beats Buenos Aires by one place as the city of South America America's plan to visit this year. At the bottom of the list Costa Rica and Bolivia have seen a decline with the rise in popularity of countries like Colombia and Peru.

Our advise at ETG, is to quit your job, buy a rucksack, and go and see them all!
