Lalibela ancient rock churches in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is back on the tourist map
Famine and conflict are still images people conjure up when they think of Ethiopia, but despite this, the East African country will soon become a fashionable destination.

Earlier last year George W Bush and family visited the world heritage site of Lalibela and the ancient rock churches; a key factor into drawing the tourists in, which are already growing by 10%.

Also Ethiopia is growing at more than seven per cent per year and is forecast to be the third largest economy in Africa by 2015.

Ethiopia is back on the tourist map, so visit now and be amazed by the 11 Orthodox churches chiselled out of the town's red volcanic rock. They were built in the 13th century on the orders of King Lalibela and Legend has it that the toil of thousands of labourers on this "new Jerusalem" during the day was continued by angels at night.
