Lonely Planet writer Carolyn Bain tells us why she loves Iceland. "It's not a unique claim these days: I've been smitten with Iceland since I first visited. My visits were increasing, for both work and fun, but my cravings weren't subsiding, and I started to entertain the notion of moving there permanently. Icelandic friends gave me wise advice to experience more wintry conditions before committing, so in February 2017 I took the ferry north from Denmark. I sailed into Seyðisfjörður at sunrise on Valentines Day under incredible candy-pink skies, and my decision was made. I moved to Reykjavik from Australia later that year, and am now overjoyed to call Iceland home."
